Job Overview
We are a small metal fabrication shop located in Decatur, GA. We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Welding Helper to support our custom metal fabrication projects. This part-time role is ideal for someone who has experience in a metal shop, enjoys working with their hands, and takes pride in clean, efficient work. You’ll assist with prepping materials, grinding, cutting, and supporting welders on active jobs. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a shop that values craftsmanship and hustle.
Responsibilities
Assist with measuring, cutting, and prepping steel components
Set up welding machines properly based on materials and job needs
Support welders with material fit-up and part alignment
Operate grinders, saws, and basic shop tools
Read and follow simple fabrication plans or shop sketches
Help with shop clean-up, deliveries, and tool organization
Occasionally run errands or pick up materials as needed
Requirements
1+ year experience in a fabrication or welding environment
Comfortable using grinders, saws, and handling raw metal
Able to follow instructions and safely support welding operations
Familiar with reading basic drawings or fabrication layouts
Must have reliable transportation
